Oklahoma Joins Growing Movement to Rein in Feds

Red Millennial

Earlier today Oklahoma became the seventh state to adopt a measure that could forever change the way Washington, D.C., does business.

The Oklahoma Senate voted 30-16 to call an Article Five Convention of States for the purpose of proposing constitutional reforms to limit the power of the federal government.

“Oklahoma wants to be part of the conversation about restoring a balance in the relationship between the federal government and the states,” said Oklahoma state Rep. Gary Banz, the resolution’s lead sponsor in the Oklahoma House. The lower chamber passed the resolution earlier last week.

The Convention of States resolution calls for an Article V Convention that would propose term limits on federal officials, fiscal restraints, and other limits on the federal government. Once 34 states have passed identical resolutions, the convention will be called, and state legislatures will send commissioners to hammer out reforms that will rebalance America’s constitutional structure and restore the rule of law…

What If Congress Were Different?

Red Millennial

Why do we send people to a distant Capitol, where they are surrounded by insiders, and expect things to change?

An overwhelming majority of Americans disapproves of the ruling class—Congress, lobbyists, and the inside-the-beltway insiders. The wealthiest parts of the country surround D.C., despite the fact there is no major industry there.

The commodity that D.C. produces is political influence, and it’s all centered in one place, with corporate lobbyists taking up residence on the infamous K Street. Studies have shown that politicians are primarily influenced by lobbyists and political favors, not constitutional principles or even their constituents. By all accounts, this is well-depicted by the show House of Cards wherein politicians and their staff profit, both politically and financially, via this system.

Many well-intentioned people have promised to clean up Washington D.C., but the problem has only worsened. They are almost always swallowed up by the Washington Machine and become a…

Indiana is Sixth State to Stick it to Obama

Red Millennial

Convention of States Project activists delivered an incredible victory in the Indiana House on Monday evening, making the Hoosier state the sixth to officially RSVP for this historic event. The COSP resolution, which was passed by a 61-36 margin, seeks to undo much of the damage to the constitutional structure that President Obama and the federal government have created over the past several years.

“Congratulations to Indiana on becoming the sixth state to pass the Convention of States resolution to reclaim state power,” said Mark Meckler, President of Citizens for Self-Governance and co-founder of the Convention of States Project. “Our team in The Hoosier State did a fantastic job, and I’m honored to work with such dedicated patriots. The federal government derives its power from the people and the states, and today marks another step towards reinstating that authority.”

Under an Article V Convention, the several states can meet to propose fiscal restraints…

Tennessee Becomes Fifth State to Pass Convention of States!

Red Millennial

In a landslide victory, the Tennessee House finished what the Tennessee Senate started last year, approving the Convention of States resolution by a vote of 59-31. Tennessee is the first state in 2016, and the fifth state overall, to approve this measure, which will be considered by 30 other states this year.

“Our founders saw a day when we would need to stop the abuses of a federal government,” said Rep. Sheila Butt, the primary sponsor. “The amendment process that is outlined in Article V of the constitution is their gift to us, we need to display the courage of our Founders and not the timidity of serfs.” A total of 58 other Representatives co-sponsored the resolution.

The Convention of States resolution calls for an Article V Convention that would propose term limits on federal officials, fiscal restraints, and other limits on the federal government. It has now been approved by…

Texas Governor Gives ‘Most Important Political Speech of Our Generation’

Red Millennial

On Friday the Texas Gov. Greg Abbott gave an impassioned speech on the need for states to call an Article V Convention of States, and it’s already sending shockwaves through political circles and energizing the grassroots nationwide.

Abbott’s appeal to the Texas policymakers was met with an immediate and prolonged standing ovation. In a Facebook post Michael Farris, the co-founder of the Convention of States Project, posted a link to the Governor’s speech.

“Governor Abbott gave what I believe will be remembered as the most important political speech of our generation,” Farris wrote.

Abbott, who has long derided President Obama’s use of the executive order, put out a document that includes nine proposed constitutional amendments which would restore power to the states and to the people.

“We are gratified that Governor Abbott has responded to the grassroots movement in Texas and is endorsing our call for a Convention of…

LibertyFest a Hit with Arizona Activists

Red Millennial

“Posterity, you will never know how much it cost the present generation to preserve your freedom. I hope you will make a good use of it.” -John Adams

The quote above could have easily been said by any of the dozens of great Arizonians who put on a ‘LibertyFest’ event last month. People from all over the state of Arizona came for a concert hosted by local bands, speeches by state leaders, dinner, games, and much more.

But mostly they were there to take their country back.

“People in Arizona are excited about Convention of States, because they see it as a way to return power to the people,” said Tom Eidukonis, a volunteer District Captain.

Convention of States is a constitutional, legal way to recapture our republic,” said Ed Goheen. “It’s the only good, comprehensive, viable way to restore our republic before it is lost.” Convention of States Project is a…

An American Resolution

Red Millennial

I’m convinced 2016 is going to be a monumental year for America. There are things that greatly concern me about what is happening in America. In the past that would have discouraged me. I now see that there is great reason to hope. I see great evidence that Americans are waking up and working to take back their liberty.

With this in mind, I wrote down a few reminders for myself.

act with courage, for fear breeds apathy.
never settle for injustice, for that is its own EVIL.
believe in the enduring idea of America, because she is worth fighting for.
be part of the solution, RATHER THAN just complain about the problems.
stand for liberty, here and now, because future generations deserve an America that is more prosperous and free.

But perhaps a World War I soldier said it best in a letter to his…
