Two gunmen have reportedly been shot and killed by police outside of a Muhammed art contest in Garland, Texas. The suspects were reportedly carrying explosives and other devices were found nearby.
According to Joe Harn of the Garland Police Department, the two suspects drove up to a security officer, got out of the car, and started shooting. That security guard was shot in the leg in the shootout, and he has already been released from the hospital.
Approximately 100 attendees were still inside during the shootout. The event, which was hosted by the New York-based American Freedom Defense Initiative, was held at the Curtis Culwell Center and had a heavy presence of police officers and private security before the shooting.
Although there has been no confirmation yet, many suspect that the shooting was related to the event. A recent report indicated ISIS has a splinter group near the Texas border.
