Sen. Thad Cochran, the 42-year Senator from Mississippi, apparently didn’t get the memo. When he was asked how Eric Cantor’s loss to Tea Party-backed Dave Brat could effect his race against Tea Party-challenger Chris McDaniel, Cochran appeared confused.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” the 76 year-old said. The reporter had to inform the Senator of the national story before he would comment further. Cantor’s loss sent shockwaves through Washington and dominated headlines for several days. Cantor is the first Majority Leader in American history to lose in a primary race while holding that position.
